It Takes A Village

Working for the positive development of youth is our guiding mission. You and We are that Village.

Join Our Parent Advisory Committee

The Parent Advisory Committee is a place for parents to get to know each another. You can also help guide Triangle Bikeworks as we work to provide a better experience for your child.

Dream Staff

Kevin Hicks

Founder & Vol. Executive Director

Kevin knows that one small nonprofit program in North Carolina may only affect several dozens of youth every year. But he likes the starfish parable, in which a beachgoer is throwing stranded starfish back into the sea and another person points out how one person can’t possibly save all of the starfish. “But it makes a difference to the ones I threw back,” the beachgoer responds. “I just plant the seed,” Kevin says.

“I believe bikes are your first introduction to freedom.”

Itza Salazar

Program Manager

Itza Salazar was one of original seven students who participated in Triangle Bikeworks’ pilot program in 2010. Before her first excursion with the group, she was unaware that national and state parks were open to the public. Several years later, the organization was excited to hire Itza as its Program Director.  She brings her experience with creating and executing transformative youth programming and her deep commitment to equity.

Lynn Weller

P/T Development Manager

Lynn joined Triangle Bikeworks with a background in environmental program management and nonprofit development work. Lynn brings her passion for cycling, social change, and caring for the planet to all of her work with us. She feels fortunate that she was able to experience the magic of a Triangle Bikeworks summer tour from the seat of her bike!

Fernando Sanchez

AmeriCorps Afterschool Corps VISTA

Fernando is serving as our AmeriCorps NC Compus Compact Afterschool Corps VISTA. Fernando will be working to build the capacity of TBW by developing community partnerships, mobilizing volunteers, and designing organizational systems to increase our presence in the community.

What is our vision for the long ride?

The analogy of the long ride is intentional. Before leaving for a long ride you must have a destination and a plan when you get there. At Triangle Bikeworks we know exactly where we’re going and what we’ll do when we get there.

When there is no more work to do youth will have the opportunity to develop physically, socially, and academically to their full potential, regardless of their background, resources, and opportunity.

“I was able to see what most people wouldn’t see. I was able to learn what people wouldn’t learn because it’s a hidden treasure that school tries to cover up.” ~ SpokenRev Youth
